SOLAPSO – Sociedad Latinoamericana de Psoriasis

SOLAPSO, the Latin American Society of Psoriasis, counted by the end of 2008 with some 1000 members.
SOLPASO started working on July 2008 through a coordination committee formed by the doctors Edgardo Chouela, Nora Kogan, Nélida Raimondo and Javier Ubogui. Their initial activities aimed at giving an image and a legal form to this civil association.
Among these firstly developed tasks, one can count the design of the logo and SOLAPSO’s presentation brochure, with the goal of communicating institutional actions. SOLAPSO has been working on the foundation act and the statutes will be subjected to consideration during the Assembly to be held at the RADLA in Mexico.
SOLAPSO was represented at different scientific activities in 2008 and strengthened the exchanges with professionals interested in participating in the SOLAPSO project:

International contacts were made with:
Psoriasis International Network – An agreement was made to interlink both institutions through the web. Moreover, SOLAPSO will actively participate in the next World Psoriasis Congress (2010). Direct link to Psoriasis International Network from: www.solapso.org
RADLA Mexico: the 1st SOLAPSO Assembly will be held on this occasion.
International Psoriasis Council – the 1st Symposium SOLAPSO-IPC will be held on May 2 (previously to the RADLA Mexico)
Short-term projects:
- Patients registry, especially focusing on co-morbidities. Technical support will be obtained under the auspices of Wyeth.
- Survey of practitioners: to know the reality, the questions and needs of latinamerican dermatologists on the matters of psoriasis. A pilot project has been started in Argentina and will be enlarged to the whole Latin American countries. Wyeth Laboratories are in charge of the logistic support.
