Seoul, the dynamic capital city of South Korea, hosted the 8th Asian Dermatological Congress (ADC) at Sheraton Grande Walkerhill Hotel from Oct. 1st through 4th. It was organized by ADC2008 organizing committee (President ; Jai-Il Youn) and Korean Dermatological Association, hosted by Asian Dermatological Association (ADA), and sponsored by 18 international companies in the medical industries. The venue, which sits right by the banks of Han River, welcomed a record total of 1,115 congress participants from 25 countries who gathered together under the slogan of "Shaping the future: dermatology in Asia."
Since its inception in Hong Kong in 1986, ADC has become one of the major international academic congresses in dermatological field. This year, a total of 580 abstracts (285 from Korea and 295 from overseas) were presented and 88 exhibition booths installed. There were a total of 76 scientific sessions, including 10 plenary lectures, 15 free communications, 15 morning focus sessions, 8 symposia, 7 satellite symposia, 7 teaching courses, 4 workshops, and 2 dermatosurgery symposia.
