World Psoriasis Day in Germany

The German Association Deutscher Psoriasis Bund e.V. (www.psoriasis-bund.de) organised at the world psoriasis day ten different events, taking place at Bochum, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Gera, Landau, Leipzig, Nürnberg/Erlangen, Hamburg Quedlinburg und Frankfurt a. M. This happened in cooperation with university hospitals and the German Resident Doctor’s Associations and dermatological institutes. All these events have been well attended by the audience. The idea was to transport the information about psoriasis in different regional parts of Germany and give the people with psoriasis the chance to inform themselves first hand near the places where they live. Also a main press conference in Hamburg, in cooperation with the German Resident Doctor’s Associations, Berufsverband Deutscher Dermatologen (BvDD; www.uptoderm.de) and Deutsche Dermatologische Gesellschaft (DDG; www.ddg.de) and research institute CVderm, has been held successfully. It has been attended by many journalists and the result in newspapers and TV-Magazines could be seen the next days.

A free telephone hotline has been installed during the world psoriasis day for four hours. The demand was overwhelming: 20 experts gave answer to several thousand people that called to ask them individual questions.       

The main event was held in Frankfurt a. Main. Deutscher Psoriasis Bund e.V. organised a congress for the whole day with free access for the public. At “Deutscher Psoriasis Tag” dermatological experts presented new findings of their research. A lot of useful information for people suffering from psoriasis was given. Approximately 500 people attended the congress and the exhibition of pharmaceutical businesses, where the new medicals, crèmes, unguents and treatments for skin with psoriasis were shown. 

The main theme of the congress was “fields of problems with psoriasis”, where different aspects had been highlighted. Seven Experts gave lectures to different topics concerning the psoriasis treatment according to the medical guidelines for psoriasis. The experts informed about the therapy of psoriasis at the scalp and head, the psoriasis at hands and feet, the treatment of children, very old and very ill people. The newest findings of health services research for psoriasis patients has been presented for the first time to the public, also the network of doctor’s with special knowledge for the treatment of psoriasis patients (Psonet; www.psonet.de). Deutscher Psoriasis Bund showed his political commitment to psoriatic patients in the German Health System and impressed by his successful work in the past and present. At the end of the event, people with psoriasis used the opportunity to ask the experts about their personal questions with their psoriasis. Every question has been answered  properly.

In a whole, the organiser is very proud that it was possible to concentrate so many experts at one place and present new facts to a big audience.
